China has unveiled a plan to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) into the energy sector to improve its safety and operational efficiency. The plan was released by the National Development and Reform Commission and the State Energy Administration, reports Xinhua , a TV BRICS partner.

China plans to achieve world-class AI application in energy by 2030, with key areas being power grids, renewable energy, and nuclear energy.
The document also sets out objectives for developing data collection technologies, improving algorithms, and increasing computing resources. To achieve these goals, measures are provided for data exchange, integrating computing into electrical systems, and training specialists in the field of AI and energy.
This step should improve the efficiency of the energy sector and also accelerate the country’s transition to environmentally friendly energy sources.
