Day of the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro declared a day off

Mayor of Rio de Janeiro Eduardo Paes signed a law establishing a day off in the city on Monday, July 7. The decision is connected with the holding of the BRICS summit on July 6-7, to which the heads of state and government of more than 20 countries will come, Toda Palavra, partner of TV BRICS.

The municipality also declared a day off for municipal institutions Friday, July 4. This is due to the preparation and holding of official events, including a meeting of finance ministers and heads of central banks of the group member countries.

The events will be held in the landmark locations of Rio de Janeiro: the ministerial meeting will be held at a hotel on the embankment of the Avenida Atlantic in the Copacabana district, and the summit meeting at the Museum of Modern Art in Flamengo Park.

Brazil holds BRICS chairmanship in 2025. The country has already hosted the summit meeting of the member states of the association in 2010, 2014 and 2019.
