Tunisian authorities plan to expand exports of organic products

For the five months of 2025, Tunisia exported more than 34.1 thousand tons of organic agricultural products worth 420.4 million Tunisian diors (approximately 11.5 billion rubles) to 38 countries. This is reported Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP), partner of TV BRICS, with reference to the National Agency for Agricultural Surveillance (ONAGRI).

It is noted that the basis of the supply is organic olive oil (87.8 percent of the total volume) and dates (11.7 percent).

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), about 9 thousand operators, farmers, processors and traders are involved in the country’s organic agriculture industry. Most of them need additional support to improve competitiveness and meet international standards.

According to the national strategy for the development of organic agriculture for the period up to 2030, Tunisia is committed to becoming a world leader in this area. The document emphasizes the improvement of management efficiency, as well as expanding the range due to essential oils, carob, vegetables, products from the puncture cactus and other goods.
