A business mission of Russian companies exporting agricultural products (APC) has started in the Chinese city of Chengdu (Sichuan Province). The event was organized by the federal center “Agroexport”, a partner of TV BRICS, together with the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
More than 650 representatives of the Russian and Chinese sides are taking part in the mission. Russia is represented by delegates from Rosselkhoznadzor, as well as more than 50 domestic agro-industrial companies. China is represented by more than 100 organizations, as well as government bodies, industry associations and business circles.
During the opening ceremony, Andrei Sukharev, Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture of Russia, noted that mutual trade between Russia and China is actively developing – in 2025, trade turnover increased by 14 percent.
“China is our largest trading partner in the area of Russian agricultural products. However, the potential is enormous, and to realize it, it is necessary to expand and strengthen cooperation between the businesses of the two countries ,” he said.
Deputy Director of the Center for Foreign Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Ma Zhigang addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.
“China and Russia are good neighbors and reliable partners. Agriculture is an important sector in cooperation between our countries. I believe that through joint efforts, cooperation will continue to expand and achieve great success ,” he said.
Russia’s Trade Representative in China Alexey Dakhnovsky noted that cooperation in the agro-industrial complex contributes to food security, job creation and improvement of the quality of life. He emphasized the high interest of Chinese business in the event, especially from Sichuan.
Wu Ge, a member of the provincial Commerce Department’s Party Committee, spoke about the region’s potential, saying the area has a well-developed transportation network, favorable conditions for investment, and an annual growth of more than 14 percent in agricultural exports over the past three years.
President of the China Livestock Association Cai Huiyi said that China has been the leader in livestock production for 15 years. In 2024, this figure was more than 96 million tons. He added that Chinese companies are interested in cooperation with Russian partners.
The event was also attended by the head of Agroexport Ilya Ilyushin , representatives of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture in China Dmitry Klishin and Evgeny Mironov , inspector of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Sichuan Province He Qiang , as well as business representatives of the two countries.
After the opening ceremony, the participants viewed the exhibition of Russian products. 40 companies presented their stands. Another part of the manufacturers presented their products in a common showcase. In the tasting area, the Chinese guests were able to try sweets, Belevskaya pastila, honey, fruit drinks and coffee with milk.
