Egypt’s trade with BRICS countries grew by 19.5% in 2024

The volume of trade between Egypt and the BRICS countries increased to 50.8 billion US dollars (more than 4 trillion rubles) in 2024, which is 19.5 percent more than in 2023 ($ 42.5 billion, or 3.3 trillion rubles). This is reported Sada El-Balad, partner of TV BRICS, with reference to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics of Egypt (CAPMAS).

According to published data, Egyptian exports to the countries of the association increased by 10.6 percent, amounting to 9.4 billion US dollars (more than 741 billion rubles). The main importer of Egyptian products was the UAE (3.3 billion dollars, or about 260.2 billion rubles). This is followed by Brazil, Russia, India, China, Indonesia, South Africa, Ethiopia and Iran.

Among the key export goods are precious stones and jewelry, vegetables and fruits, electrical equipment, mineral fuels and ferrous metals.

Egypt’s imports from the BRICS countries also showed an increase of 21.8 percent, reaching 41.4 billion US dollars (more than 3.2 trillion rubles). China topped the list of exporters to Egypt ($15.5 billion, or 1.2 trillion rubles), followed by Russia, Brazil, India, UAE, Indonesia, South Africa, Ethiopia and Iran.

Egypt imported from the states of the association mainly electronics, petroleum products, grains, metals, plastics, chemical products and cars.

It is also noted that the volume of investments of the BRICS countries in Egypt reached 40.6 billion US dollars (3.2 trillion rubles). At the same time, the volume of Egyptian investments in the states of “ten” amounted to 1.7 billion dollars (more than 134 billion rubles).
