International forces are worried about the irregularities in the amount of violence used against Mozambican citizens during the post-election protests.
The 27th of November (Wednesday) saw another deadly round of protests, with anti-government protesters and law enforcement clashing and fighting in different parts of the country. The northern city of Nampula, which is the capital city of the Nampula province, is the third largest city after Maputo and Matola, where crowds had disturbed traffic with barricades and burning tires, Police opened fire, ending the lives of two protesters.
Western observers allege the election was unfair.
In a statement, the countries demand Mozambique’s government to look into the reports of disproportionate use of force against demonstrators and make sure those responsible get brought to justice.
The opposition party RENAMO dismissed the election result as fraudulent after FRELIMO was declared the winner, which increased its 49-year rule.
