Egypt to open pharmaceutical plant in Zambia

Egypt announced the start of the construction of a pharmaceutical plant in Zambia. It will be created with the participation of private companies of the two states. The aim of the project is to develop cooperation with African countries and strengthen Egypt’s presence on the continent in the production and export of medicines. It is noted that this project is an important step in the strategy of Egypt to develop industrial integration in the region, technology transfer, support local production and ensure drug safety in Africa.

At a meeting with a delegation from Zambia, the head of the Egyptian Drug Administration, Ali Al-Gamrawi, noted that the African market is a promising direction for Egyptian exports. He stressed that cooperation will strengthen regional health systems.

The parties discussed the details of the project implementation and regulatory issues. Egypt confirmed its readiness to provide technical support and to simplify administrative procedures for the launch of the plant.
