The authorities of Rio de Janeiro officially presented a detailed plan of preparation for the BRICS 2025 events, including the summit of the leaders of the countries of the association, which will be held on July 6-7. This is reported by Toda Palavra, a partner of the TV BRICS network.
The city begins the reception of delegations of the BRICS countries – preparatory meetings will be held until the summit. In addition to the meeting of the leaders, the city will host five more major events that will complete the current chairmanship of Brazil in the association.
It is expected that more than 4 thousand people from 37 countries will take part in them – these are member states, partner countries and representatives of international organizations.
Deputy Mayor of Rio Eduardo Cavalieri said that the city has officially expressed a desire to deploy the headquarters of BRICS in the future. Negotiations are underway with the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on this issue, and Rio is ready to provide the necessary infrastructure so that the association can work on a permanent basis – next to the New Development Bank.
Among the key meetings ahead of the summit is a meeting of finance ministers and heads of central banks of the BRICS countries on July 4, as well as the meeting of the managers of the New Development Bank on July 5. Both events will be held in Copacabana. Business events are planned in the port zone: a meeting of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance – July 4, the BRICS Business Forum – on July 5. The Forum of Young Leaders will be held on July 6-7 in the city center.
The city authorities emphasize that the holding of the BRICS summit not only strengthens Brazil’s position in international politics, but also strengthens the status of Rio as a modern global city capable of holding major international events and developing a sustainable urban environment.
