The leaders of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance (WBA) from South Africa and Indonesia emphasized the role of women in building a multipolar world and transforming global economic cooperation within the BRICS.
With the expansion of the group, they call for the strengthening of sovereignty and the creation of a new model of international cooperation. This was in an exclusive interview in the TV BRICS studio in the area of business communication Roscongress International at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) told Lebohan Zula, head of the South African branch of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance.

Zulu called the unification platform that is united by common values, a common vision and cooperation that is beneficial for everyone. She stressed the need to establish a multipolar world that supported economic mobility and financial alternatives.
“We are not a BRICS social project. We are a real structure of economic cooperation,” she said.
In addition, Lebohan Zulu called for greater participation of women in all three pillars of BRICS cooperation: political, economic and financial, as well as in the development of humanitarian ties.
In turn, Iravati Hermavan, a member of the Indonesian branch of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance, noted the growing role of women in the economic leadership both within BRICS and in ASEAN.
“Women are now in top management, form policies and influence economic growth. “In Indonesia and ASEAN, women entrepreneurs, especially in small and medium-sized businesses, are key economic actors,” said Iravati Hermavan.
In connection with the official accession of Indonesia to the BRICS in January 2025, Hermavan sees great prospects.
“This is a huge market – more than 4 billion people. There are great opportunities for trade,” she said.

As the third largest economy in the group, Indonesia is ready not only to take advantage of the opportunities opening up with the expansion of BRICS, but also to bring its unique advantages to the association.
