The China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area in Qingdao recorded 26.1 per cent year-on-year growth in trade with Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states in the first seven months of 2025, reaching about US$7.41 billion, official customs data show.
From January to July, exports from the SCO demonstration zone in China grew by 21.5 per cent, while imports rose by 31 per cent. The key export categories were electromechanical products, such as refrigerators and washing machines, whose exports grew by 13.8 per cent, as well as textiles and clothing, whose exports grew by 27.6 per cent, as reported by China Daily, a partner of TV BRICS.

The zone also expanded imports of agricultural and food products, including frozen cod, dried chili peppers, seafood, dried fruits, and dairy products. The value of these imports exceeded 14.7 per cent on an annualised basis, expanding the range of food products available to Chinese consumers.
