Chinese scientists have set a new world record, creating a pulsed magnetic field with a flat top of 71.36 Tesla. This was an important achievement in the study of strong magnetic fields based on modern scientific infrastructure. Global Times, partner of TV BRICS.
It is noted that the new result significantly exceeded the previous record of the same team – 64 Teslas, set in 2018.
Pulse magnetic fields with a flat top are considered an advanced research instrument. They combine the advantages of constant and pulsed magnetic fields: the first – in stability, the second – in high power. The constant fields retain an invariable force in time, and pulsed are short-lived, but reach extreme values, which is especially important for accurate experiments. Such fields are used, for example, in magnetic resonance and in research in the field of solid, chemistry and materials science.
Magnetic induction, which is measured in cusses, is a key unit in electromagnetism. One Tesla 20 thousand times the strength of the Earth’s magnetic field. The higher the level of induction, the wider the possibilities for scientific discoveries.
As the publication emphasizes, this achievement was an important stage in the development of China’s scientific infrastructure. According to data for 2025, the country has implemented more than 2 thousand projects with the participation of scientists from more than 141 institutions in 30 countries.
