Egypt ranked first among North African countries in terms of copper exports. Morocco comes next. This is reported MENA, TV BRICS Partner.
Copper has become the second most important export position on the African continent after crude oil. In 2024, the value of African copper exports reached about 35 billion US dollars (approximately 2.88 trillion rubles). At the same time, only ten countries provide 98 percent of revenue, although copper is exported by 52 of Africa’s 54 countries.
The main markets for Egyptian copper were the countries of North Africa, the Middle East and Europe. As the agency notes, this strengthened Egypt’s position in the mining industry and confirmed its status as one of the key suppliers of copper on the world market.

Africa as a whole accounts for 15.3 per cent of global copper exports, making it an important player in the global commodity market.
Other leading African copper exporters include – Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, Tanzania, Republic of the Congo, Namibia and Nigeria. It is noted that growing demand from the Chinese economy stimulates supplies, especially for the needs of industry and energy.
