For the first time, India has ranked among the top 100 countries in the world for progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), TV9 , a TV BRICS partner, reported, citing a report on the achievement of the SDGs.
According to the report, India ranked 99th out of 167 countries with a score of 67. The assessment is done on a scale of 0 to 100, where 100 means full achievement of all goals and 0 means no progress.
In previous years, the country occupied lower positions: 109th place in 2024, 112th in 2023, 121st in 2022, 120th in 2021, 117th in 2020, 115th in 2019, 112th in 2018 and 116th in 2017.
The SDGs are a universal action plan adopted by all UN members in 2015. They include 17 goals aimed at ending poverty, combating inequality, ensuring quality education, health care, clean energy, sustainable economic growth and protecting the environment.
The SDGs aim to create a sustainable future that leaves no one behind. Each country adapts the goals to its national priorities, with progress assessed at the international level. The goals guide governments, businesses and societies in making decisions that promote development and well-being.
