Senior Geopolitics Expert, President and Vice-Chairman of the ImagIndia Institute Robander Sachdev in an exclusive interview Asian News International (ANI)Partner of the TV BRICS network, stressed the need to strengthen coordination mechanisms within BRICS. He called on the countries of the association to establish a permanent BRICS secretariat to strengthen the institutional structure of the group and ensure effective implementation of the solutions.
“I expect that the BRICS group will be formalized more as an institutional association. I believe that this year BRICS is entering a new era. I call it BRICS 2.0,” the expert said.
According to him, the establishment of a permanent secretariat similar to the secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) should become one of the key priorities of the BRICS. Sachdev believes that such a secretariat may be placed in Russia, India or be in joint management.
Sachdev also highlighted areas in which the BRICS countries will continue to deepen cooperation. Among them are trade, technology transfer, intellectual property, energy security, supply chains and the development of economic corridors. In his opinion, strengthening cooperation in these areas will help the BRICS to play an increasingly prominent role in international affairs and in the emerging world order.
In addition, he stressed that cooperation in the BRICS can contribute to the development of humanitarian ties around the world, including in the protection of the environment, climate change and in other areas.
