Scientists from Argentina presented strategies for the preservation and restoration of ecosystems

Specialists of the National Council for Science and Technology of Argentina (CONICET) have become one of the leading authors of the new international report on biodiversity. The document was approved by representatives of almost 150 countries at the meeting of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), which was held in the Namibian capital, Windhoek. This is reported BRICSLat, partner of the TV BRICS network.

The final assessment of the document was given by the Argentine scientist Lucas Garibaldi. Four more experts from CONICET also took part in its preparation.

The report presents specific recommendations: how to preserve and restore priority ecosystems, how to integrate environment into business development and how to change existing patterns of production and consumption.

Special attention is paid to the so-called “Nexus assessment” – analysis of the relationship between biodiversity, water resources and food. The document proposes more than 70 agreed measures aimed at sustainable management of nature, business support without harm to the environment and environmental protection.

These issues are also paid to the attention of other BRICS countries. Brazil has developed a national energy transition program. It will help reduce harmful emissions in industries such as steel, cement, aluminum and chemicals. This is reported on Site Ministries of Mining and Energy of the country.

India has proposed to the UN countries to develop an international agreement to protect biodiversity. This writes about it Prensa Latina, Partner of TV BRICS network.
