South Africa Opens First Dinosaur Center

In the province of Free State on the territory of one of the national parks earned the first center in South Africa for the study of dinosaurs. The opening of the object was held with the participation of the Minister of Tourism of the country Patricia de Lille, writes China Daily, partner of TV BRICS.

The new center is a museum and educational space, which tells about the history of dinosaurs that lived in South Africa. Here you can see the skeletons recreated by scientists, as well as materials about the oldest dinosaur embryo – Massospopdylus, found in 1976 in this area.

“We have created something meaningful and large-scale at the same time. This is not just a museum, but part of the state strategy to diversify tourist destinations,” said Patricia de Lille.

The South African National Park Service has trained 15 guides to conduct educational excursions for guests. As Professor Ion Shuaner of the University of Witwatersrand emphasized, the center is able to attract not only tourists, but also researchers from all over the world, because South Africa is one of the leaders in the number of paleontological finds.
