South Africa outlined priorities for the development of startups in the G20

South Africa, which led the G20 meeting of the G20 working group on startups, Startup20, has identified key areas of work for the duration of its chairmanship in the association. This was stated by the Minister for the Development of Small Business Stella Ndabeni AbrahamsThe words of which are given to Site Government of South Africa.

She said that South Africa is proposing to focus on five strategic priorities: supporting start-up entrepreneurs, access to financing, inclusiveness and sustainability, expanding markets and urban and rural entrepreneurship.



Ndabeni-Abrahams noted that special attention is planned to be paid to the involvement of women and youth, digital trade, the circular economy and the modernization of public procurement systems. She also stressed the need to stimulate entrepreneurship in underdeveloped municipalities through infrastructure solutions and cooperative forms of business.

The minister said that expert teams from South Africa and other countries are working on specific initiatives. The results will be presented at the Startup20 summit, which will be held on November 13-14, 2025. Prensa Latina, partner of TV BRICS.

She added that South Africa intends to convey to the G20 countries the interests of the Global South States, especially in matters of food security, debt burden and access to investment. The accession of the African Union to the G20, according to Ndabeni-Abrahams, has opened up new opportunities for the harmonization of regional and global priorities.

Startup20 is an initiative of the G20, which brings together startups, small and medium-sized businesses with the world’s leading economies on a single platform for dialogue and cooperation.
