The 81st Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and The Pacific (ESCAP)

The 81st session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) was held at the United Nations Convention Center in Bangkok11.

The Russian interdepartmental delegation was headed by Kirill Logvinov, Director of the Department of International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Following the session Regional cooperation for resilient and sustainable urban development in Asia and the Pacific, which addressed a wide range of issues related to strengthening cooperation in the fields of transport, energy, trade and environmental protection, taking into account the new challenges associated with rapid urbanization in the Asia-Pacific region, a number of resolutions have been adopted.

The Russian delegation stressed the importance of building a multilateral partnership to achieve Sustainable Development Goals, especially in the context of the growing fragmentation of the global economy. Kirill Logvinov also held bilateral consultations with Armida Akisjahbaba, Executive Secretary of the ESCAP, and Adnan Aliani, Director, Stratagy and Program Management Division.

They discussed priority areas for further cooperation, as well as the implementation of ongoing technical assistance projects funded by Russia’s voluntary contribution to the Commission’s budget.
