The leaders of Brazil and Nigeria discussed the establishment of direct air communication between the countries

President of Brazil Luis Inácio Lula da Silva met with his Nigerian counterpart Bolo Tinubu during the BRICS summit. This is reported on Site of the Brazilian Government.

During the conversation, they discussed the recent mission of Vice-President of Brazil Gerald Alcmin to renew the Brasilia-Nigeria Strategic Dialogue Mechanism. They also confirmed their mutual readiness to strengthen relations between the countries.

“The expansion of trade exchange and mutual investments was one of the priorities discussed at the meeting,” the statement said.

The Nigerian president spoke about the reforms that are currently underway in the country and about opportunities for investment, especially in infrastructure, energy and fertilizer production. He noted that Nigeria is interested in cooperation for the development of agriculture. During the meeting, cooperation in the field of energy transition, science, technology, innovation, space observations was discussed.

Separately, it is noted that Lula da Silva confirmed to his Nigerian counterpart an invitation to take part in the COP30 conference, which will be held in Belém. He also promised to organize a business forum involving entrepreneurs from Brazil and Nigeria during a state visit to Tinuba to Brazil scheduled for August this year.
